Getting OSX-REIMS

The package lives in the #osx-reims Discord channel: become a member, join the server and connect Discord to YouTube.

Alpha

This documentation covers OSX-REIMS 0.3.0, alpha software. Commands and options may change between versions; when in doubt, check osx-reims --help on the installed version.

OSX-REIMS is not sold on its own and is not downloaded from this site: each version's installation package is published in the #osx-reims channel of the Universo Hackintosh Discord, open to members on the Hackintosh - Avançado tier.

There are three steps, in this order:

  1. become a member on the Hackintosh - Avançado tier of the YouTube channel;
  2. join the Discord server through the official invite;
  3. connect your Discord profile to YouTube, so Discord recognizes you as a member.

Important

The server's channels, #osx-reims among them, only show up after all three steps. Joining the server is not enough: without the YouTube connection, Discord has no way of knowing that you are a member.

1. Become a member

Membership is purchased on the Universo Hackintosh YouTube channel, through the official link (opens in a new tab). Pick the Hackintosh - Avançado tier: that is the one that gives access to OSX-REIMS. Lower tiers do not unlock the #osx-reims channel.

Access lasts for as long as the membership is active.

Keep track of which Google/YouTube account you used to join: that is the one you connect to Discord in step 3.

2. Join the Discord server

Accept the invite to the Universo Hackintosh server: https://hackintosh.one/s/discord (opens in a new tab).

You need a (free) Discord account. If you don't have one yet, create it and then open the invite again.

Once inside, you only see the public channels. The member channels are still hidden — the next step is what unlocks them.

3. Connect your Discord profile to YouTube

Discord grants the member role automatically when the YouTube account that joined the channel is connected to your profile. That is how it confirms the membership.

On the desktop app:

  1. Open Discord and click the gear icon next to your name, in the lower-left corner, to open User Settings.
  2. In the sidebar, choose Connections.
  3. In the list of available accounts, click the YouTube tile. If you can't see it, use the arrow to display every connection.
  4. A browser window opens Google's sign-in screen. Sign in with the same YouTube account you used to become a member and authorize Discord.
  5. That's it: the account now appears in your list of connections.

On mobile the path is the same under different names: tap your profile picture, open Connections and tap Add.

The full walkthrough, with screenshots for each version of the app, is in Discord's documentation (opens in a new tab).

Warning

If you have more than one Google account, check which one is connected. An account other than the one that joined will not unlock the member channels.

Note

Displaying the connection on your profile is up to you and changes nothing about access: the member role is granted either way.

4. Download the package in #osx-reims

Once the member role is granted, the member channels appear in the server's list. Open the #osx-reims channel and download the version's two files:

  • osx-reims_0.3.0_amd64.deb, the package;
  • osx-reims_0.3.0_amd64.deb.sha256, its checksum, used to confirm that the download came through intact.

Every new version is published in that same channel. With both files in hand, move on to Installation.

If the channels don't show up

  • Wait a few minutes and reopen Discord. The role is granted automatically, but it can take a moment after the connection.
  • Check the membership. It has to be active and on the Hackintosh - Avançado tier.
  • Check the connected account. Under User Settings → Connections, see whether the YouTube channel listed is the same one that joined. If it isn't, remove the connection and redo step 3 with the right account.
  • Check that you are on the right server, by joining again through the invite: https://hackintosh.one/s/discord (opens in a new tab).

If the problem persists, talk to the Universo Hackintosh team in the server's public channels.
